Fiat rolls out the world’s smallest ice truck

The Fiat 500e Gelateria Edition is a one-off concept car that explores the topic of environmentally clean vehicles on the narrow streets of old Europe. Its dimensions enable Fiat to call it the planet’s smallest ice cream truck.

The base vehicle is a Fiat 500e Cabriolet (see video) that only retains its driver’s seat – the remaining space is occupied by the necessary equipment. There are two 30-liter freezers on board, a waffle cone box, a spoon box and a pop-up tent. The tiny trunk is apparently still large enough for two folding seats, which the company suggests placing next to the truck for those in the queue.

The vintage-inspired, two-color exterior finish and lettering remind one of Italy’s famous gelateria shops. The cabin follows the same color scheme. There is even a horn on board that makes an iconic sound when pressed.

Fiat reckons that a single truck like this one could serve up to 300 customers per day. The company went as far as to come up with a new ice cream taste for it.

Everything remains stock in the powertrain department, meaning a 118-PS (116-hp / 87-kW) motor hooked up to a 42-kWh battery.
