Reports are coming in that the all-electric Fiat 500e will be getting a mild-hybrid variant, but it won’t happen until at least the end of the next year.
With the 2007 Fiat 500 compact underway to its retirement, the only replacement the company offers right now is the battery-electric Fiat 500e (in the gallery and the video here). It debuted in 2020 but never reached target sales figures, most likely due to substantially higher pricing. Apparently, Fiat has now reconsidered its decision to go full-electric with its model number 500 and decided to produce a more affordable petrol hybrid modification.
The details remain to be announced. All we know right now is that the 500e will be modified to accommodate a mild-hybrid powertrain.
