Fiat axes 500L and 124 Spider in the USA

Fiat car sales have been falling ever since it discontinued the 500 model in the United States, and now, it is official that the 500L and the 124 Spider will get the axe before the year ends.

In its glory days, the Italian automaker used to sell 50,000 annual units in North America, but the number gradually shrank to just 9,200 units in 2019.

As pessimistic as things may look to the casual observer, it bears mentioning that soon, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and Peugeot S.A. (PSA Group) intend to merge into the world’s fourth largest automotive corporation that would unite 13 car brands under its banner. This means new growth opportunities for the marque.
