Fiat unveiled the all-electric 600e crossover this summer (see video), and has now followed up with a hybrid version of the same model. It has less power and offers an extremely limited all-electric mode that drains the battery after 1 km (0.6 miles).
The powertrain comprises a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine rated at 100 PS (99 hp / 74 kW) and an electric motor built into a DCT box, adding another 29 PS (29 hp / 21 kW). The car hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in a sluggish 11 seconds, starting in all-electric mode and firing up the main engine only when it reaches 30km/h (18.6 mph).
According to Fiat, the novelty is targeting markets where battery EVs are still not common and the infrastructure is lacking. Prices start from €24,950 in Italy.
