Abarth’s take on the Fiat 600e will be its most powerful car so far

In-house Fiat tuner Abarth has enlisted the help of Stellantis Motorsport to produce its sportiest vehicle ever. Judging by the images, it is going to be a reworked Fiat 600e, which runs on electric power.

The car will enjoy a small-time production run, but when it will begin is still unknown. The company claims it has studied every single technical aspect of the original crossover SUV and improved upon them. The engineers have made so many motorsports-inspired modifications to the standard eCMP platform that it warranted renaming it to Perfo-eCMP, Abarth boasts.

Drivers will know to appreciate upgraded brakes, tuned suspension and new tires similar in design to those used in the Formula E. The latter implies better grip in corners, uncompromising electric range and acoustic comfort. Interestingly, the car is also getting a limited-slip differential designed specifically for an EV.

It’s also remarkable that the Abarth take on the standard Fiat 600e bumps up its power output from 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) to 240 PS (237 hp / 177 kW). The original needs a sluggish nine seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph), so the boost is rather welcome. As well, it is getting comfortable racing seats designed with racecar ergonomics in mind. Their padding consists of as many as four different foam materials.

More info is coming soon, so stay tuned.
