A 1986 Fiat Panda 4x4 with nearly 256,000 km (160,000 miles) under its belt is available for bidding in Italy right now after a restoration to ‘perfect mechanical and electrical condition’, per the listing.
Following three and a half decades of use, the whole car was resprayed in red and had all of its plastic details replaced. Smallish 13-inch rollers in the arches received sticky overlanding tires, skid plates were added for bottom protection, a bull bar appeared at the front, and a rack was installed on the roof.
Inside, the highlights boil down to new seats and dash gauges, the latter including roll and pitch angle meters for extreme off-roading.
Pop up the hood to see a tiny 1.0-liter gasoline engine pumping out 59 PS (58 hp / 36 kW) and sitting next to a complete spare wheel. The AWD system starts with an extremely low gear, and the rear driven axle comes from Steyr-Puch, so the car should have no trouble at all navigating difficult terrain. The latest maintenance saw many components replaced including seals, filters, suspension parts and oil.
With two days left until the auction closes, the top bid is still at €6,000. The seller – CataWiki – expects it to go for up to twice that amount.
