Stellantis will be halting the production of the Fiat Panda for several days next month, the company’s latest message to the striking trade unions says. That, and two automobile factories in Italy have idle days in their schedule now.
According to the struggling corporation, it is facing the need to “adapt to the current market realities.” Honestly enough, it sounds like the Panda isn’t selling as well as Stellantis would like. This is a new and important bit of information, because the company had only admitted struggling on the U.S. market so far. It now looks like it isn’t doing great in Europe, either.
For its own part, the U.S.-based Union of Automobile Workers (UAW) has launched a website named – and we apologize – ShitcanCarlos.com. It voices solidarity with the Italian workers on strike and calls upon Stellantis to relieve Carlos Tavares of his CEO office without waiting for his contract to expire.
