Nearly three month ago, Fiat announced a compact crossover SUV named the Pulse, which was designed in Brazil for South and Latin American countries. Here are its main specifications.
The Pulse is basically an off-road-friendly spin on the Fiat Argo hatchback. It has similar body proportions and five doors, although the front and rear fasciae are different. Like the Argo, it comes built on a newer version of the MP1 platform with semi-dependent suspension at the rear. The wheelbase has been slightly extended from 2,521 to 2,532 mm (8.27 to 8.31 feet).
The interior is all new, though, and offers a 7-inch digital dash, a 10-inch touch-sensitive infotainment screen, and a new steering wheel with a red Sport Mode button in the top trim version.
Engine-wise, you could go for the same 1.3-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder Fiat offers with its other cars in Brazil. It produces 101 PS (99 hp / 74 kW) on petrol and 109 PS (107 hp / 80 kW) on biofuel, and is obtainable with a five-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission.
The other option would be a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-pot rated at 120 PS (118 hp / 88 kW), mated to a six-speed A/T. The drive is on the front axle in all versions.
Sales in Brazil will start in September, Fiat says.
