The truck is a true veteran of the Brazilian market, where it has been present for almost a quarter of a century and has gone through four facelifts. Now, a new generation is finally coming up.
The Strada Mk2 will have virtually nothing in common with its predecessor, being based on a new platform, designed with the larger-sized Toro truck as a source of inspiration, and featuring certain stylistic cues of the Fiat Argo, Mobi, and Fiorino.
The current generation has a version called Adventure and a spin-off sold under the Ram badge. It is 4,409 millimeters (14.47 ft.) long, 1,664 mm (5.46 ft.) wide and 1,564 mm (5.13 ft.) tall with 2,718 mm (8.92 ft.) of wheelbase. The engine list contains three options: 1.4l @ 85 hp / 63 kW, 1.8l @ 114 hp / 85 kW, and 1.3l diesel @ 87 hp / 65 kW. The transmission is five-speed manual in all versions, and the drive stays on the front axle regardless of your other choices. Rumor has it that the next generation will mostly inherit these old engines.
Even now, the geriatric Strada enjoys fairly brisk sales dynamics in Brazil, with 76,223 units sold in 2019. The Fiat Toro sold only 65,566 units in the same year despite being more up-to-date.
The official reveal is expected at the Sao Paolo International Motor Show in November 2020.
