Henrik Fisker, the founder of the namesake car company, visited Vatican and announced the coming of a new Popemobile, a Fisker Ocean EV modified to suit the requirements of the Pontifex.
Fisker presented the public and Pope Francis with a few crude renderings of the car; a few angles looked particularly unfinished. Then again, the production is only set to start in November next year, so there should be plenty of time left.
The Ocean will be the first production EV with a Fisker badge on it. The company will be adding a glass dome and changing the interior layout for the needs of the Catholic Church client.
The interior, including the floor mats, will be furnished using eco-friendly and recycled materials. Fisker said he noticed Pope Francis’ interest towards environmentally clean transports when he saw him in a hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai last fall.
