At long last, Fisker Ocean debuts in production form

Henrik Fisker has come to the LA Auto Show with his first production-ready electric car called the Ocean. Sales in Europe and North America are set to begin in late 2022.

As you can see, the final form of the Ocean EV looks identical to its original concept in terms of features, including even the roof-mounted solar panel. It is 4,775 mm (186.5 inches) long, 1,995 mm (78 inches) wide and has 2,921 mm (114.1 inches) of wheelbase. The height can vary from 1,629 to 1,631 mm (around 63.7 inches) depending on the spec.

The car runs on a proprietary skateboard platform designed by Magna Steyr (Austria) and has MacPherson struts at the front end, while the rear wheels take advantage of multi-link suspension.

Buyers will have three trim levels to choose among: Sport, Ultra, and Extreme. The Sport will be the most affordable at $37,500 before options and also the only one to be FWD. Its sole electric motor can produce 279 PS (275 hp / 205 kW), enabling a sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.4 seconds and a maximum range of 440 km (273 miles).

The $50,000 Ultra spec has 548 PS (540 hp / 403 kW) at its disposal and sprints in 4.2 seconds. It also gets 610 km (379 miles) out of its larger battery. Finally, the Extreme spec starts from $69,000 and offers 558 PS (550 hp / 410 kW). It completes the launch in 3.9 seconds and has the most endurance of the three with 630 km (391 miles). Exact battery specifications remain unannounced.

The production is set to begin in Austria on November 17, 2022. Before all other specs, the Ocean One Edition will emerge in 5,000 units outfitted to Extreme specification with 22-inch wheels and lots of extra equipment. It will cost the same as the standard Extreme trim level set to come after it.
