Ford announces new all-electric SUV

According to the closing report released by Ford for 2018, the company plans to unveil a new all-electric crossover/SUV model sometime in 2019, followed by a sales launch in 2020.

The car still goes without a name, while rumors insist it is going to be called ‘Mach E’, or perhaps ‘Mach-E’. Some say it will utilize the Ford EV chassis. Once out on the market, it will mainly have to compete against the Tesla Model X in the luxury SUV category.

No technical specs are available right now, but unofficial sources claim the car will offer at least 480 kilometers (300 miles) of range. The production will take place in Mexico.

Previously, Ford has allocated around U.S. $11 billion for the R&D of its electrified vehicle lineup. The company expects to release at least 13 different EVs in the nearest future.
