Ford premiered its newest Super Duty pickup truck this winter, but took its time announcing the technical specs. Let us see what the update brings.
The car comes equipped with a 7.3-liter V8 engine available in two boost variants: 350 hp (261 kW) with 635 Nm (468 lb-ft) of torque, and 430 hp (321 kW) with 644 Nm (475 lb-ft) of torque. The latter reaches maximum torque at 4,000 RPM.
Both versions link to the Ford Torqshift 10-speed automatic transmission. In contrast, the F-650 and F-750 get a heavy-duty 6-speed automatic transmission.
The new Super Duty has the strongest engine in its vehicle class. For comparison, the Ram 2500/3500 packs a 6.4-liter V8 capable of ‘only’ 416 hp (310 kW) and 582 Nm (430 lb-ft). The Chevrolet Silverado HD (2500/3500) has 6.6 liters of displacement and produces 406 hp (302 kW) along with 629 Nm (464 lb-ft). Finally, the Nissan Titan XD makes do with 5.6 liters, 395 hp (295 kW) and 534 Nm (394 lb-ft).
Sales begin in September.
