Ford Europe co-designed the Team Fordzilla P1 with pro gamers as a virtual supercar with no production prospects. However, they did promise to build a real-world replica of it – and stayed true to that promise.
The car lacks a powertrain, but is otherwise meticulously designed down to the smallest detail. It is 4,731 mm (15.52 feet) long, exactly 2 meters (6.56 ft.) wide and only 895 mm (2.94 ft.) tall. Tires measure 315/30 R21 at the front end and 355/25 R21 in the back.
Professionals from five different countries participated in the project via Internet, and the final assembly took place in Cologne, Germany, and took seven weeks.
Cybersports people from Team Fordzilla consulted Ford designers and made suggestions. Srturo Arinho was responsible for the exterior and Robert Engelmann for the cabin design, which was practically non-existent when the project was announced back in September. The finished replica boasts a rectangular steering wheel with a display and LED indicators providing useful real-time racing data.
