Motiv Power Systems, a developer of electronic driver aids for vehicles, has demonstrated its ESP (electronic stability program) in action on an American school bus.
The company claims that it was the first among ESP manufacturers to have moose-tested that feature for efficiency on a mid-size commercial vehicle. Note that the bus featured in the video runs on electric power, making it heavier than a comparable ICE vehicle. Motiv plans to launch mass production of such buses on the Ford F-59 chassis in 2022.
While most moose tests tend to be run at 77 km/h (48 mph) or so, Motiv claims its ESP enabled the bus to pass it flawlessly at 112 km/h (70 mph). The important thing to note, however, is that the company used a different track configuration with much wider corridors, so there can be no drawing parallels here.
