Check out a built racecar with Mercedes-Benz looks, Ford V8 heart

A custom racecar cropped up on sale in Nottingham, UK, not long ago. The ad has been delisted since then, but the asking price was as low as £11,000.

The one-off racer resembles the first-gen Mercedes-Benz CLK at the front end, but comes powered by a 5.8-liter Ford V8 rated at 509 PS (502 hp / 374 kW) and 678 Nm (500 lb-ft) of torque. A five-speed manual transmission sends the momentum to the rear axle through a limited-slip differential.

SHP Motorsport built the vehicle for participation in multiple racing series. It comes based on a space-frame made of stainless steel and has a steel bottom along with firewalls at both ends. The bodywork is largely GFRP, the windows are polycarbonate, and the windshield is heated.

Brakes measure 320 mm across at the front and 280 mm at the rear, and are air-cooled for efficiency. The suspension setup involves dual wishbones and adjustable shocks. Found inside the cabin are a fire extinguishing system, a quick-release steering wheel, and a safety cage.
