A 1935 Ford that received a body transplant from a year 1940 model just changed hands at an auction for U.S. $17,250.
The truck features a removable hardtop and was built by Hot Rod Haven based in New Mexico in 2009–2010 to participate in high-end C/TO racing. These races were held by the Southern California Timing Association (SCTA) in 2010–2013. In 2014, the truck was redesigned to be street-legal, losing its snorkel pipe and some other upgrades.
Powering the Ford Roadster Pickup Hot Rod is a modified 6.3-liter Chevrolet V8 with Edelbrock Performer headers and a Holley carburetor. A General Motors 700R4 four-speed auto transmission carries the torque to the rear axle. Pete & Jake’s parts are used in the suspension throughout.
The body is finished in black with captions ‘4041’ and ‘C/TO’ on both doors. The wheels shod in Excelsior tires, the top and the bed are also black. The tailpipes exit from one side, and there is a towing eye at the front end.
A peek inside the cabin reveals black trim matching the body. The seats are heated, the steering wheel sports a three-spoke design, there is a So-Cal speedometer on the dash notched up to 200 mph (322 km/h), and a modern audio system. The odometer reads around 3,000 miles (4,800 km), out of which the seller added only around 500 mi (800 km). The total chassis mileage is a mystery.
