Ford discloses electrified vehicle production plans for Europe

Gunnar Herrmann, Quality VP of Ford Europe, revealed that the company won’t be assembling any electrified vehicle models in Europe until 2023. For the next five years, the company’s works in Cologne are going to be busy with the production of Ford Fiesta. Once finished, they will shut down for a technological upgrade which may take another year or so.

In the meantime, the North American car manufacturer is going to invest up to U.S. $4.5 billion in electrified vehicle R&D until 2020. By that year, the company hopes to launch the domestic production of at least 13 different all-electric car models and roughly the same number of hybrids.

In an earlier news, the hybrid versions of Ford F-150 and Ford Mustang have been scheduled for their U.S. market premiere in 2022.
