Ford has started sales of its updated Figo sedan and hatchback range. The facelift offers new stamped-out bumpers, fang-like decorative moldings up front, reworked headlights, a different radiator grille and an imitation diffusor in the back.
On the inside, the series now comes equipped with the Sync 3 multimedia system featuring a 6.5-inch touchscreen display and smartphone/tablet integration. The above is only valid for higher trim levels, though; the base models ship with a simple infotainment system or altogether without one.
The sedan and the hatchback have different rear seat backrest design. The former has a one-piece backrest, whereas the latter has a two-piece one.
The engine palette is represented by a 1.2L, three-cylinder Ti-VCT Dragon engine capable of 96 hp (72 kW) and 120 Nm (89 lb·ft) of torque, another modification of the same engine boosted to 120 hp (90 kW), and a single 1.5L TDCi diesel with 100 hp (75 kW) and 215 Nm (159 lb·ft) of torque. All of the above works with either manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
Standard equipment includes one air bag, cloth upholstery, basic speakers, and an air conditioner.
An updated Ford Figo can already be purchased in India starting at U.S. $8,000 and in South Africa at $13,500 and above, the latter being due to SAR receiving some of the higher-end specifications.
Another cheap Ford model, the Aspire, will also hit the showrooms in India soon. Its facelifted design will be revealed towards the end of June.
Ford Figo is a low-end car sedan/hatchback series available in India, South Africa and some other third-world countries with the left-hand traffic. There is also a left-hand drive version of it, known in Europe as the recently facelifted Ford Ka+.
