Ford’s Wrong Way Alert warns drivers who enter the oncoming lane

U.S. car manufacturer Ford has held a presentation dedicated to its newest development, an active security feature titled the Wrong Way Alert. just as the name implies, the electronic assistant will give off a warning signal whenever the driver enters the oncoming lane.

The new fourth-generation Ford Focus, which will go on sale within a month, will be the first to benefit from the new feature.

According to a Ford engineer, the Wrong Way Alert will be especially useful to drowsy drivers, those who fail to read the traffic signs correctly, as well as in bad weather and low visibility conditions.

The electronic assistant uses a video camera, a GPS navigator and traffic signs to determine whether the car is going the wrong way. If positive, an alert sounds and a visual message pops up on the dashboard.
