Ford Bronco data leak suggests a hybrid version is underway

The new Ford Bronco has only debuted in its gas-powered form so far, but a recent data leak hints at an electrified powertrain coming soon.

The various digital dashboard and central display combinations for the Bronco have emerged on Behance, notably including a combo called EV Coaching. Based on these images, the SUV had originally been designed as a plug-in hybrid, among other options. Some believe that it might also get the mild-hybrid drivetrain of the latest Ford F-150; we are just going to have to wait and see.

Speaking about the electrification of the company’s model range last year, CEO Jim Hackett mentioned the new Bronco in the list of vehicles to go electric. He did not specify what kind of powertrain it would get, however.

Another leak that occurred before the new Ford Ranger reveal suggested that the pickup truck would end up with a plug-in hybrid system based on the 2.3-liter EcoBoost Engine. It proved accurate. Since the Ranger is technologically related to the Bronco, it makes sense for the latter to get the same spec as well.
