Ford had originally planned to churn out 3,500 First Edition Broncos, but ended up selling the entire batch in pre-orders within hours from the launch. It has therefore announced the expansion of the production to 7,000 units – and sold these out, too.
This situation leaves many fans of the U.S. automotive marque grumpy because they couldn’t grab a car for themselves, and others upset about Ford diluting the exclusivity of the First Edition and its resale value.
The special batch starts from U.S. $59,305 (thee-door version) and $63,500 (five-door version), which almost doubles the base price tag of $29,990. Each car comes powered by the range-topping 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 315 hp (235 kW) and packs a ten-speed automatic transmission alongside a plethora of options and extras. Among other things, the spec includes the entire Luxe and Sasquatch packages for comfort and off-road use, respectively. It also offers heated leather seats, a 12-inch infotainment screen, an audio system and much more.
The 2021 Ford Bronco will start shipping next spring.
