Ford revealed its revived Bronco SUV last week, along with the asking price: $30,000 before all options. Almost simultaneously with the announcement, this old Bronco restomod went up on sale in the USA for $195,250. Is it worth paying nearly seven times the new Bronco price to get an old car?
Apparently, it could be. First, the 1976 model year vehicle has been restored and repaired to top driving condition. Second, it was given expensive suspension, brake and steering upgrades, so driving it shouldn’t feel too dated by modern standards.
Even more importantly, the previous owner replaced the original engine with a Ford Coyote V8 crate engine linked to a six-speed automatic transmission. As a result, the off-roader drives the wheels with 460 hp (343 kW) and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque – roughly 50% more power than even the top-spec 2021 Bronco has.
The cabin also does everything it can to look perfect with its light brown leather trim, climate control and digital dashboard. The driver enjoys access to a new steering wheel, a premium audio system and cup holders on the center tunnel. The hardtop is removable, and there is an internal roll cage for extra safety.
