Texas-based performance tuner PaxPower explores the possibility to fit the revived Ford Bronco with V8s – both naturally aspirated and supercharged.
According to the company, a non-turbo five-liter unit would be capable of driving the new Bronco wheels with up to 400 hp (300 kW) and 543 Nm (400 lb-ft) of torque. Its forced-induction counterpart would yield up to 750 hp (550 kW) and 813 Nm (600 lb-ft) of torque instead. The main difficulty in both cases is finding a suitable transmission model – allegedly, none of the factory options will work. PaxPower considers using a ten-speed automatic or a six- or seven-speed manual gearbox for the project, but there’s little doubt the cost of such a conversion would be high.
That said, the Texan auto shop has already produced a similarly specced Ford F-150 Raptor, supercharging it for 750 hp and 813 Nm, so following through with the Bronco shouldn’t be too hard.
