Ford Bronco V6 to ditch manual gearbox, Chief Engineer says

Remember when we reported a few days ago that Ford confessed to “giving in to customers’ wishes” and greenlit a stick-shift version of its off-road-capable Bronco Sasquatch? Well, as it turns out, some customers’ wishes may still go unfulfilled.

According to Eric Loeffler, Chief Engineer of the Ford Bronco Project, only the four-cylinder variants of the SUV will get manual transmission listed under options. The V6 variant will go auto, because the market demand for stick-shift V6 SUVs is extremely low.

Thus, the new Bronco Sasquatch will ship with a choice between ten-speed automatic and seven-speed manual only as long as it has a 2.3-liter turbo four-banger under the hood producing 273 hp (203 kW). The 2.7-liter, 314-hp (234-kW) V6 version will be automatic only.
