Ford may have unveiled its resurrected Bronco SUV in mid-2020, but surprises just keep coming.
According to an alleged leak of the car’s technical specifications, it can run considerably better on premium fuel. Back when the Bronco was revealed a year ago, it had two powertrain options. One was a 2.3-liter gasoline turbo-four engine rated at 274 PS (270 hp / 202 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque, while the other one was a 2.7-liter turbo six-pot burning petrol for 315 PS (311 hp / 232 kW) and 542 Nm (400 lb-ft) of torque.
The leak suggests that feeding the former engine with high quality gas raises its output to 305 PS (301 hp / 224 kW) and 441 Nm (325 lb-ft). The six-cylinder gets a similar push to 335 PS (330 hp / 246 kW) and 563 Nm (415 lb-ft) of torque. You can choose between a seven-speed manual transmission and 10-range A/T in both cases.
Ford opened the pre-order books soon after the premiere, ending up with a pile of pre-orders that it had scheduled to start fulfilling this spring. However, due to the Covid-19 disruption of the industry and the shortage of essential components, including semiconductor parts, the actual deliveries will not be made until at least June 20, 2021. Prices start from U.S. $28,500.
Dealerships throughout the United States have already begun preparations for the sales, some even constructing dedicated showrooms to sell the new Bronco cars alone.
