A recent YouTube video shows an unlikely race between the new Ford Bronco and a Mustang Shelby GT500: the otherwise slower off-roader wins thanks to taking numerous shortcuts.
In order to beat the GT500 spec with its 800 mechanical horsepower at the crank (596 kilowatts), experienced racing driver Shelby Hall steers her Bronco into the grass field every time there is a bend in the 1.8-mile (2.9-kilometer) long track. As a result, the sports car eventually falls behind the SUV, which claims the checkered flag.
In a curious moment after the race, Hall can be seen talking to Shelby American CEO Gary Patterson, who says “Shelby should do something with that”, pointing at the off-roader. Is it directed at Shelby Hall the driver or Shelby American, Inc.? Could the company be considering a special edition of the new Bronco?
