While many of us are still waiting to take delivery of their Ford Bronco, some lucky people out there have already grabbed two. A man from Arizona even cut his new car in half to turn it into a trailer for his other car… But better not jump to any conclusions here, because the project was sanctioned by Roush and Ford.
The off-roader that you see sawed apart in the video below was originally a two-door prototype destined for the scrap press. Darin, the author of the conversion, works at Roush testing various vehicles in off-road conditions. He even has his very own “follow-me” Bronco for fast recovery.
Testing cars out in the field means you get to carry a big bag of tools with you – and Darin had too many to fit them all inside his four-door Bronco. This is how the idea for the 6G Bronco Project was born. He asked Ford for a test car he could play around with, and the company was kind enough to oblige.
Once he had the pre-production Bronco on his hands, he set off to saw it into a convenient trailer shape. Six weeks later, he had a custom trailer at his disposal equipped with a smart suspension system capable of adjusting the ground clearance on the fly.
