The car tuning atelier Icon is mostly known for its specialization in Toyota FJ restoration and modernization (“restomodding”). Today, however, it came out of the garage with something different and new: a first-generation Ford Bronco that has the body and the equipment of the Ford Mustang.
The U.S. off-road vehicle got to keep its original frame, which was additionally improved and reinforced. The engineers upgraded the axles, the anti-roll bars and the shock absorbers. They reconstructed the body manually and replaced the worn-out parts with brand-new ones made of aluminum and stainless steel. Once finished, they lacquered the vehicle in matte-pastel shades.
The old engine made way for a new 5.0L V8 unit taken directly from a Ford Mustang and capable of 430 hp (321 kW) and 545 Nm (402 lb·ft) of torque. The restomodded vehicle is all-wheel-driven by default, but you can switch to front drive at any time.
Interior modifications included removable rear seats, car stereo, and navigation.
The company will issue a limited series of Ford Bronco Icon Old School BR restomod cars priced at U.S. $150,000, depending on the scope of work. That doesn’t include the cost of the original vehicle.
