U.S. automotive giant, Ford, continues testing its new mini crossover/SUV dubbed the Baby Bronco by the media. In all likelihood, the car will debut in 2020 and compete with the Jeep Renegade in its market niche.
Rumor has it the newcomer – which has not been officially introduced yet – may end up with a name like ‘Scout’ or ‘Adventurer’. Allegedly, it will enter production in Michigan, USA, based on the Escape chassis and a 1.5-liter gas turbo engine rated at 180 hp (134 kW). A higher trim version may be released with a 2,0-liter engine capable of 250 hp (186 kW). Customers will likely face a choice between front drive and AWD.
The standard Bronco SUV is based on the same architecture as the latest Ford Ranger. It is expected to ship with a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine good for 325 hp (242 kW), mated to a 7-speed manual transmission. A hybrid variant is also possible, but not confirmed yet.
The compact-sized Ford Puma is the company’s latest released crossover to date.
