Pursuit Systems has lately introduced us to a whole range of camera cars based on the BMW X5 M, Porsche Cayenne Turbo and Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG. Each vehicle came equipped with a large and heavy camera crane for stabilized video shooting on the go. Today, it has introduced a similar car based on the 2019 Ford Edge ST.
The upgrade might not seem like a big deal, but keep in mind that it adds around 600 kilograms (1,000 lb) of weight load onto the roof of the car, necessitating some major other upgrades such as four-wheel air suspension, a roll cage and a boost of the stock 2.7L engine.
The interior of the car was stripped of all auxiliary equipment, which made way for new video displays.
The team has also wrapped the entire body of the car in a matte-black film. This wasn’t done for aesthetic purposes, but so as to prevent the car from reflecting on other vehicles during filming.
