Next-gen Ford Everest coming to emerging markets based on Ranger tech

Ford only unveiled the new Ranger pickup a few weeks ago, and now its SUV-shaped counterpart named Everest is coming to the markets of Australia, Philippines, Thailand and India.

The affordable crossover will not be available in North America. It has nearly the same radiator grille and headlights as the Ranger it is based upon, while the bumper is slightly different with chrome bezels around anti-fog lights.

Other than that, the off-roader offers plenty of ride height, has robust suspension travel, and rides on meaty all-terrain tires. There are plastic flares on the fenders and rails on the roof. The tail end looks rather refreshing with its L-shaped brake lights extending to the tailgate in dotted lines.

The interior remains to be shown, but we expect it to be largely borrowed from the Ranger as well, except for the added third row. The multimedia display could be sized 10.1 inches across in the standard version and up to 12 inches in the top spec.

A new 3.0-liter V6 TDI coming to replace the old inline five-cylinder will provide the needed off-road thrust.
