Ford announces its next Everest SUV

It looks like the Ford Motor Company has launched a major update of its product range. The reveal of a new Everest SUV followed shortly after the announcement of the next Ford Ranger pickup.

In its coming iteration, the vehicle gets restyled bumpers and radiator grille, LED headlamps, tweaked suspension, active noise reduction, an emergency brake system with pedestrian detection and other handy features. Australia will be the first to get it late this year.

In addition to the above, the Ford Ranger-based car gets a new 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine (actually, the same series the latest Ranger Raptor ships with). Its performance is going to exceed 210 hp (156 kW), with the peak 500 Nm (369 lb·ft) of torque attainable as early as at 1,750 RPM. A new 10-speed automatic transmission will be made available along with the old choices.

Reportedly, fuel consumption in urban/suburban driving conditions shouldn’t exceed 7 liters per 100 km (40 MPG in GB, 33.5 MPG in the USA).

In its base version, the refreshed Ford Everest will offer a Sync 3 infotainment system with iOS and Android phone support, GPS navigation, and a number of interior customization options.

Specifications and prices will be announced separately.
