Unofficial: Battery-powered Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator delayed until 2025

As you probably know, Ford has been working on all-electric versions of the Explorer for a while now, as did Lincoln on the Aviator. Now, Automotive News claims multiple authorized dealerships have received letters warning them that neither car is going to be available until early 2025.

The document allegedly states that the production of both models is due to begin in late December 2024, a year and a half late compared to the original schedule.

What is also important, neither of the two electric CUVs will be produced in Mexico. Instead, the company plans to upgrade its Mexico factory to maximize the production of the highly popular Ford Mustang Mach-E. This is perhaps the main reason behind the delay.
