The Changan-Ford JSC has shared the first photos of an updated Ford Explorer for China, which apparently gets exterior and cabin improvements with no extra thrust. The premiere is set to take place at the Auto China show next month.
The off-roader now has a different radiator grille with an integrated LED bar, headlights, taillights, and fang-shaped trim pieces at both ends of the front bumper.
In turn, the cabin gets a giant 4K infotainment display that necessitated redesigning the entire front panel to fit. The digital dashboard stays as is, while the center console is mostly gone, replaced with a compact control panel with shortcuts to some in-car functions.
In terms of length, width and height, the SUV is now 5,063 х 2,004 х 1,778 millimeters large with 3,025 mm between the axles. The dimensions are roughly the same except for the length, which is now 12 mm shorter due to stylistic modifications.
Power is still supplied by a 2.3-liter mill connected to a ten-speed automatic transmission. The output amounts to 276 PS (272 hp / 203 kW) and 425 Nm (313 lb-ft) of torque.
Sales will begin in a couple of months, Changan-Ford says.
