Ford Explorer Hybrid rides 40 mm lower thanks to H&R

It is no one’s secret that buyers of full-size SUVs often end up never leaving the asphalt, preferring their vehicles for their rugged aesthetic, comfort and perceived sense of safety. In this case, excessively tall suspension quickly becomes a liability – but H&R has a solution for that.

The suspension specialist offers a spring package for the EcoBoost 3.0 PHEV variant of the Explorer (all modifications since the year 2019 are supported, like the 2020MY example in the video). Once installed, the fixed-height springs reduce the ride height by around 40 mm (1.6”) at the front and 35 mm (1.4”) at the rear. Swaying is reduced, stability in fast turns improved and fuel consumption lowered – although don’t take our word for that, because the manufacturer provides no specific numbers.

A full set of springs to make your Explorer look like the example in the gallery costs €627. Another €183 buys you a 26mm set of Trak+ wheel spacers useful for aligning the wheels with their respective arches. Larger spacers are available upon request.
