U.S. car manufacturer Ford has revealed some details concerning the next generation of police cars based on the Explorer SUV. The series will ship with a more comprehensive feature list and a choice of three engines, including a hybrid one.
More specifically, the upcoming ford Explorer police car will get a 3.0L EcoBoost V6 engine, a 3.3L naturally-aspirated one, and a hybrid one with regenerative brake support. Their respective performance data aren’t being discussed yet. All three will work in conjunction with 10-speed automatic transmissions.
Aside from the above, the police vehicle will get new electronic driver aids: a rear view camera, a telemetry system, an automatic door lock, and a perimeter guard that scans a 270° area around the car for potential risk factors.
