At the SEMA show continuing right now in Las Vegas, Ford has unveiled an all-electric concept car dubbed the F-100 Eluminator. Buying a crate e-motor for your own car is available from $3,900.
The truck, which was originally produced in 1978, received dual electric motors jointly rated at 480 PS (473 hp / 353 kW) and 860 Nm (634 lb-ft) of torque. The powertrain thus looks the same as in the Mustang Mach-E GT, although the battery capacity remains undisclosed for the F-100. Considered individually, the motors make 281 PS (277 hp / 207 kW) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque.
Elsewhere, the pickup sports a completely restored body, upgraded suspension and custom wheels to match the rest of the exterior. A see-through engine cover enables a peek into the inner workings of the powertrain.
The interior was given a Mustang Mach-E-inspired treatment. There are two new seats and a steering wheel, as well as two displays – a horizontal and a vertical one. The former displays the remaining battery charge, while the latter provides infotainment services (likely also borrowed from the Mach-E). The center console is likewise new and houses a shifter knob.
As of right now, the crate engine ships in an incomplete DIY set including one electric motor and some of the wiring. Users still have to obtain and set up the ECU, the invertors and the batteries separately. Having said that, Ford promises to fill in the gap later.
