Take a closer look at this bizarre Ford F-100 convertible truck

A thoroughly restored and modernized 55-year-old Ford F-100 hit the block several days ago and went for $32,500 USD. A closer look at it reveals several interesting and unusual design decisions.

Unlike the vast majority of its peers, the fashion-conscious red restomod actually has a retractable soft top that you can fold back at a simple push of a button. A small opening in the middle is provided for the rear view mirror, but there is still the impression that the visibility is going to be really poor. Missing side mirrors or reversing camera only aggravate matters. Or is it just a garage queen?

If you do not remember the F-100 ever being released with a truck bed like this, that’s because it comes from a Studebaker pickup instead. The taillights and the integrated exhaust pipes are also borrowed from that model. 15-inch Colorado Custom wheels sit in the arches, and there are rotor brakes on the front axle. The suspension is as low as it gets, and the doors swing open backwards like on some earlier Rolls-Royce cars.

The interior greets the visitor with light brown leather on four individual seats, a special wheel with a wooden rim, and a three-speed A/T lever next to it.

Power for the picabriolet (sorry for that) comes from a Chrysler HEMI V8 engine with 5.4 liters of displacement and a triple carburetor. The power is not specified, but the first-generation engine of this type started at 180 PS (178 hp / 132 kW).
