Video: Ken Block fits his custom Ford F-150 Raptor with 300,000lm of lighting

Ken Block, member of the Hoonigan Racing Division, a pro drifter and rally driver as well as a TV star, felt like finding out just how much lighting on a car is too much lighting. Watch the video for a detailed explanation.

Block enlisted the help of Rigid Industries, which provided him with the enormous LED light bars he mounted on the bumper, hood and roof. According to him, the nominal light flow from the entire set operating on max capacity was 300,000 lumens. To put things into perspective, F-150 halogen low beams normally output 700 lumens combined, and adding high beams raises the number to just 1,200 lumens.

After an unforgettable night driving from Missouri to California, Block came to the conclusion that more lighting almost always helps – especially at higher speeds, when you need to be able to spot obstacles well in advance to drive around them.
