AddArmor unveils an armor-clad Hennessey VelociRaptor

AddArmor, a company specializing in land vehicle security, has already shown us its bullet- and explosion-proof Ferrari 458 Speciale and Audi RS7, and now delivers a similar upgrade for the Hennessey VelociRaptor.

The team uses a polycarbonate compound material to protect the 600-HP (447-kW) truck against homemade explosive devices and sustained AK-47 gunfire. The material is said to be 15 times as resistant as steel and 40 percent sturdier than Kevlar.

Along with the armor, the pickup receives a number of up-to-date security systems, including a sound counterattack system and door grips that will electrocute anyone not authorized to get in. The package also includes heavy-duty front and rear bumpers, a dual-battery system, an alarm, shockproof lights, an internal comm station, and a bomb-scanning device. Even on flat tires, this Hennessey VelociRaptor can do 80 km/h (50 mph).

The upgrade will set you back at least $30,000.
