U.S. President Joseph Biden visited a Ford factory in Dearborn and took a test drive of the all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning, revealing some technical details to the media afterwards.
The automaker arranged a tour across the EV manufacturing facilities for Biden, who once again came out before an audience to share his vision of electric mobility.
Observers noticed a few Ford cars standing behind him, including the still-to-be-revealed F-150 Lightning pickup. The image clearly shows a different radiator grille and LED lights.
In an interview later on, Biden said he accelerated to 80 miles per hour (130 km/h) and needed 4.3 or 4.4 seconds to reach 60 mph (97 km/h). This is interesting, because the manufacturer has not revealed any such figures yet.
The Ford F-150 Lightning should preserve the body-on-frame construction of its ICE counterpart while benefiting from independent per-wheel suspension all around. Its driving range is currently estimated between 300 and 400 miles (480 – 640 kilometers).
