Hennessey, a widely known U.S. car manufacturer, has started limited series production of the new six-wheel pickup VelociRaptor 6x6. The car, which is based off the hi-end Ford F-150 Raptor, can be pre-ordered for U.S. $349,000.
It’s worth pointing out that when the vehicle was introduced several months ago its price was estimated at $295,000. Apparently, manufacturing costs of the new Hennessey VelociRaptor 6x6 turned out considerably higher than expected.
The six-wheel pickup took almost a year to design. Hennessey’s initial production plans include a small series of just 50 cars.
The engine compartment of the new Hennessey VelociRaptor 6x6 houses a 3.5L turbocharged V6 capable of 605 hp with 843 Nm torque. This is an impressive, nearly-200-horsepower improvement over the old Hennessey motor. Driven by such a beast, the unusual vehicle makes 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) in under five seconds.
The new pickup comes with updated wheel and bumper design, readjusted suspension, and additional LED lighting.
