Ford increases F-150 Lightning production due to high demand

It appears that Ford scored something of a pre-order jackpot with its latest releases. The Bronco SUV and the Maverick mini-truck were popular in their own right, but neither came even close to the 120,000 orders for the ell-electric F-150 Lightning pickup. Insiders are now reporting that production is going to be boosted in the coming months.

Automotive News quotes Ford employees allegedly familiar with the production schedule saying the company will invest $850,000,000 into increasing the production rates of the ultra-popular battery truck.

This means roughly 15,000 units produced within the first year, 55,000 by 2023, and 80,000 by 2024. The original plans envisioned no more than 40,000 total units.
