Ford confirms F-150 Lightning delay until spring 2022

We all expected Ford to launch an online configurator app for its all-electric truck, the F-150 Lightning, tomorrow. It is now obvious that the pricing information won’t arrive until half a year later, at best.

There has been no official announcement at this time, but numerous Ford Lightning forum users have reported receiving letters from their dealerships saying that pre-ordering would not be available until December 2021. The company did mention earlier that the first deliveries were getting postponed until next spring, but it now emerges that the pricing may change in the meantime, too.

As of today, the manufacturer has registered over 150,000 pre-orders, but the specific trim levels, options and accessories remain largely unannounced. Rumor has it that the most affordable version of the truck would start from U.S. $40,000, or even lower considering that various EV benefits and incentives exist in the USA. One has to wonder whether a price hike due to all the demand is out of the question or not.
