Mustang-swapped Hennessey VelociRaptor bid to $87.5k, fails to sell

Hennessey Performance has long been a valid destination for all kinds of top-performance cars, SUVs and trucks, but this particular example never met the reserve at Cars & Bids.

In the Hennessey VelociRaptor world, this specific car started off as a 2020 Ford F-150 outfitted with second-gen Raptor parts. One could say that Ford dropped the ball when it launched the new Raptor close to the Ram 1500 TRX, a much more badass-looking and powerful SUV. The 456 metric horsepower (450 hp / 336 kW) the Raptor’s V6 churned out were nice, but still not as nice as the Ram’s 712 PS (702 hp / 524 kW).

Hennessey successfully addressed this shortcoming in its version, though, replacing the engine with a Mustang eight-banger driven by a Whipple 2.9L supercharger. Further mods included a high-flow air intake system, air-to-water heat exchanger, and ECU presets. When all was said and done, the truck slammed the wheels with 769 PS (758 hp / 565 kW).

You can recognize the VelociRaptor by its 20-inch custom rims wrapped in 35-inch Toyo rubber, a 3-inch (76mm) suspension lift, new bumpers and lighting, and Hennessey badges all around. The interior has some new embroidery and a mandatory authenticity plaque, but otherwise looks stock.

Despite having less then 17.5 thousand kilometers (10.8 thousand miles) under its belt, the pickup somehow failed to meet the reserve after bidding rose to $87,500 USD. Our suspicion is that customers in this segment of the market prefer getting their rides from the tuner directly at this price point.
