Ford jabs at Tesla for Friday night driver lockout

As you know, several hundred Tesla owners in different countries experienced an issue with their mobile apps just before the weekend, being unable to unlock and start their EVs from their phones. Ford’s PR director Mike Levine could not resist the temptation to mock the incident while highlighting the security of Ford cars.

Levine shared a pic of Joe Biden driving an all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning truck and added an arrow pointing to the buttons on the door of the vehicle. He pointed out that a feature called SecuriCode prevents Ford cars from jamming their doors with no options to open them when you least expect it. He added, “Know what I mean?”

SecuriCode is a feature introduced by Ford around 2010. It adds a button panel next to the driver’s b-pillar or just below the handle that you can use to enter a unique unlock code and get inside the car. Later models see buttons replaced with touch-sensitive panels, but the principle remains the same.
