When Ford announced the electric version of its national best-selling truck, the F-150, it caused a sensation. The company proceeded to register nearly 200,000 orders for the 2022MY Lightning before announcing that it was no longer available.
According to the Ford customer website, those who wanted an electric truck would now have to wait until the next model year becomes available. For its own part, CarsDirect reports that some dealerships in the USA are still offering the Lightning at a sizeable premium ($5,000 USD and higher).
Making the situation even more dramatic is the fact that the production of the truck hasn’t even started yet. In fact, it is set to begin tomorrow, April 26.
