Row you own gears in this $1.7k F-150 NautiTruck

We sometimes refer to bulky and unwieldy luxury vehicles as ‘luxobarges’, but someone from the USA decided to take that metaphor further and actually built a pickup truck with a boat body.

He took a 1986 Ford F-150 frame and slapped a four-decade-old Correct Craft boat hull on it, ending up with a bizarre-looking and positively not amphibious truck. All the controls had to be transplanted from their original positions at the right-hand side to the left, the floor had to be designed from scratch, and five seats had to be installed along with a roll cage.

Powering the insane Frankenstein’s amphibian is a stock 4.9-liter Ford engine with six cylinders, 124 PS (122 hp / 91 kW) and 346 Nm (255 lb-ft) of torque. Actually, its owner had a new carburetor installed along with a different air intake system, so the power might have gone up a bit.

However it is, the hilarious Ford F-150 NautiTruck is up for grabs right now for as little as $1,700 (top bid). It lacks an odometer or a mileage counter, so you won’t be learning how much use it has seen. On the other side, a single glance inside the cabin should tell you everything you need to know: it is a seedy, barely running jalopy. Still, what better way to impress your friends, right?
