A video has cropped up online allegedly showing a Ford F-150 Raptor R raising clouds of sand and dust in a desert somewhere, powered by an audible V8.
The video itself is 23 seconds long. The sound is muffled, but there is still no mistaking the powerful engine under the hood.
Rumor has it the Raptor R version of the latest-gen F-150 comes powered by the same 5.2-liter V8 as the Mustang Shelby GT500, dialed down slightly from its original 760 PS (750 hp / 553 kW). The transmission is still a mystery, but ten-speed auto and seven-speed DCT are at the top of our list of expectations.
Other likely modifications include a more robust suspension and off-road wheels wrapped in matching tires. The launch date remains unannounced, but Ford wanted to reveal the performance truck before the end of the year.
